The Nike SB Dunk High Pro “Hawaii” is a special edition colorway of the skate shoe that continued Nike SB’s annual 4/20 themed sneaker releases in April 2021. Also known as the “Maui Wowie,” a reference to the strain of marijuana that’s grown in Hawaii, this colorful SB Dunk High is one of the latest models to honor the state of Hawaii. Nike SB released the “Aloha” in collaboration with Kicks Hawaii in 2004 and a volcano-themed SB Dunk Low called the “Hawaii” in 2006. As for the design of this shoe, a breezy blue Hawaiian print forms the base. A hidden hairy green suede material is revealed on the overlays on the forefoot, collar, and heel when the Hawaiian print textile is worn or torn off. An orange Hawaiian print is lies beneath the exterior of the perforated toe, mid-panel, and collar. The wear-away theme has been used on past Nike SB 4/20 themed releases, including on the “Cheech & Chong” SB Dunk High from 2011. Both the Swoosh branding and the tongue are constructed from a durable hemp material. White “Nike SB” insignia can be found on the orange nylon tongue tag. Zoom Air cushioning technology is added to the heel of the insole to provide a responsive ride whether on or off a skateboard. Release date: April 20, 2021.
